Question Tranny too low after Poly Mount Install

Hey guys. My transmission mount broke so I installed a prothane mount. Now the transmission is sitting too low - I can't shift into second and I can barely shift into revers. I've read some of the posts and apparently you can take the metal plate off the top. Anyone else had this issue or have any good info for me? Thanks!

When I did the same to mine, I left that plate in because it is needed but I put in a spacer between the bottom of the mount and the transmission cross member. It raised it to where it should be. You may have to make your own spacer.

Thumbs up

Thanks. Do you remember what size the spacer you made was? I still have the old mount - i was just going to measure the difference and make one myself as well.

I don't remember what the size was. I measure mine in a round about way. I put a jack under the tranny to keep it at the stock height. I then removed the cross member and mount. I then installed the new mount and reinstalled the cross member. I then found a spacer that would fill the gap. and installed it. It may be difficult to just measure the difference between the two mount because when you put in the two bolts that hold the mount to the transmission it compresses it some length. You could measue the new mount while installed, then measure the old mount. That difference should be the size spacer you need. Or you could just try various spacers until you can shift into second and reverse. Good luck!

all i did on mine when i had my v6 was i took sway bar link bushings and put them between the mount and the tranny and another set on top of the mount that the bolts went threw. Takes most the vibratations away.
