top speed?
doubt you will get a straight answer. from what i understand it is not easy to disable it. I could be wrong. Sure you know with gov it is 118, i think, atleast mine stops about there. Do not think it would be to much faster then that with out it. Not stock atleast.
But what do I know?
But what do I know?
I heard around 130 on 3.8 v6's but like previously posted it's not easy removing the gov. I remember my 99 3.8 would hit that limiter at 118 and it scared the bejeses out of me. It was a loud pop (I thought I blew my engine, lol).
well omega9 I know my car can hit 155
Sorry I couldn't resist. Like I said, I heard it was around 130 but I never was able to remove that darn thing on any of my old v6's
Good luck with yours

I thought it was because programers were not sold for V6's like the LS1's. But I just checked LM Performance and they do have one V6 programer for 98-02 models. The HPP3 which says it'll adjust shift points and remove the factory speed limiter. It was $320 I think plus shipping. So my bad, apparently it's not too hard just not real cheap.
Why do you want to go over 118 mph anyway? It'll just get you into trouble boy and da law don't like dat.
J/K but please be very careful at any speeds over 100 and make sure your tires are rated for 130ish. The last time I bought tires for my old v6 they were only rated for 120mph. So if you move the speed limiter then please research your tires for the speed rating before you "see what she can do". The life you save may be your own.
Good Luck

at 115 with a mild cross wind the camaro tends to get a little squirrly. I think it has to do with the lack of side areodynamics. I lowered my car 2" all around, full suspension package front and rear spoilers for added downforce, z rated tires and it is like glass on the highway. I ran from Denver to Las Vegas in a little over 7.5 hours. The bad thing is the car will do right under 120 but the cruise control wont let you set it above 110. (cruise control at that speed is probably a bad idea anyway.

. Anyways it did not feel loose or anything @ the 118 , but then again my dumb a** also drove to Orlando at about 110 in a 94 Dodge Caravan with **** tires.
I havent found a road big enough for me to go over 95 for more then a minute or two.
Seriousely I think you would need a really long flat road to push the V6 simply cuz I dont think the top end is there much over 90

I guess I'm a big wuss but hey I got three kids to provide for. If I was in my 20's and single I might be more of a daredevil. But just between us (shhh don't tell my wife) once and a while when I'm on the highway with no traffic I gun it to 140 and quickly get back down to 75ish. Why?
Because I can

It's too scary for me at that high of speed. Anything over 125 and half my brain is thinking about how much it would cost to bail me out of jail if I hit a radar gun while the other half is thinking about what my remains would look like if I lost control and crashed at this speed.

If I got a ticket, insurance would murder me. I've heard that all 98+ f-bodies with z rated tires have a governer at 160mph, but I don't know for sure.
