Ticking Sound
Ticking Sound
I've posted before about this issue but I decided to post a new thread because I've noticed more about these issues...
My car makes a ticking sound when driving, I opened the hood to check and see, I couldn't find anything but I still heard it... The mechanic who tuned my car up (and fixed the 5th cylendar misfire) said it couldn't be a fan and sounds like it's something internal. This is basicly what happens, When havn't driven the car and its cool, you can get roughly 2 to 4 minutes of normal drive SOMETIMES anyway. Later it will start a fast paced knocking, ticking sound. When you come to a hault, the sound disapears a few seconds afterward... when you hit the accellerator it comes RIGHT BACK! The sound never changes in speed so it always stays the same whether you're travling 10 or 70. As you drive onward it will grow to the point where it will tick even while idling. Now here's the strange part. It only does while in drive gears. When in Park, Nuetral, or even Reverse even while revving the engine, no ticking. As soon as you put it back in a drive gear, tap the gas it comes back. sometimes it will disapear once you take your foot off the gas too.
Thats basicly only what I've NOTICED, there could be other symptoms I've failed to see or mention aswell... but if anyone has any advice or contributions, ALL would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Does it sound like its comming from the passenger side like behind the dash. Mine makes that same kind of rattling sound, but my bass just drowns that out. I do know that I got it to be A LOT quieter when I adjusted a wiring harness. It was rubbing against something I think, it still makes it. It sounds like something is caught in the air vents, but it still makes the sound even with the air off, thats what the sound reminds me off. im not worried about it though, I can get over it. Hope this helps some.
Sounds exactly like that, I thought it was the air vents to but it continued even when I wasn't using the heat and air conditioner. It actually sounds like it's coming from the center of the console than anyplace else but I can't be quite sure, it can be heard clearly anywhere in the front seat until you get up to about 2K RPMS where the engine sound drowns it out.
Thanks
