Thumbs down thrust bearing on my 2.8L

my motor took a dump last week. Tore it apart and the crank thrust bearing
went away after 56K miles. Is this normal? what can cause this? looks like the converter was pushing the crank against the thrust. Also found my heads cracked. Warranty company says the engine overheated. Now the fan in this car comes on at 230 degs? (goes over 220 mark on gage)
is there a coolant fan switch I can get that makes the fan come on at 200-210 degs?

You can make a manual fan switch.
Ther is a kit that summit has that will turn it on at 200F.
