TB Bypass?

I know im probably in the wrong forum, but i only hang out in the V6 forum. What exactly does a TB bypass do? TB Spacer is the same thing right? How much HP would it add? Worth the cash? Would it be a big deal for a V6? Im just curious, slowly learning about modifications on cars.

Re: TB Bypass?

Hey cool, I have the same car as you except mine is Aqua (I don't like the color, but can't bring myself to get a paint job when the money could be used on something better). I'm also quite new but I'll try to help to the best of my ablity. A Throttle Body bypass kit will add more cool air into your engine and give you more horsepower (like 10 I think). I was thinking about getting one myself. And I'm sorry, but I've never heard of a TB Spacer, I'm new too afterall. I'd also like to know more though....like who makes good ones? and about how much should I expect a good price to be?

Re: TB Bypass?

TB bypass on a 3.4L ... gains ... none, however every little bit counts right?...

what you need is a set of pliers an eye (only one is necessary) and 2 hands are helpful although you might be able to do it with one

look at the bottom of the TB... you will see 2 hoses going into the TB from a coolant line

take your pliers and pinch on of the hose clamps so it opens and pull the hose off the TB

now pinch the take the other hose clamps on the other hose going into the TB and off the car completely

take the hose that is attached to the coolant line and plug it to the barb that is left from where you pulled the other hose from

attach the clamp and you are good to go.. take it for a test drive and notice the lack of gains

Re: TB Bypass?

Gains are none really. It keeps you from losing power when the car is hot the amount you would no longer lose would be around 1-3hp. For how cheap and easy it is to do, I would do it.

right! You dont need to spend the money on buying a kit. you can do it with the original hose that you already have.
