TB bypass and 160 stat.
TB bypass and 160 stat.
My question is, how do you do a TB bypass on a 3.4 and is it better to use a 160 stat or a 180 on the v6 firebirds????? Also, another question... what are your 3.4 A4 cars shifting at?? because this car is only shifting at 5250 rpm on the 1-2 shift. what had happened is we replaced the tranny mount with a polly. one. the car used to run 16.3-16.4 and shift at 5600 before the new mount. the old one ripped. this for a friend.... I used to have a 94Z28 A4. PLEASE HELP ON THIS
though, took it to the track last night, really hot and humid and only ran a 17.1x w/ 2.3 60'. spun on the line, barked on the 1-2 shift and on the 2-3 shift.
he has...
95 pontiac firebird 3.4 A4
B&M trans Pak recalibrator kit set on stage 2
high-flow cat
FM 80 series
cut air box w/ k&n panel-soon to be a CIA unit

Cool another 3.4L in FL
as for TB bypass, easy way is cut the hoses that go inot the TB, and go to autozone they have a inline hose repair kit, jsut hook it in the hoses, then clamp it with some hose clamps...
Or jsut remove the hoses and replace with a hose, but the hoses are on there tight.
IN FL 160* stat is great, it might be a little too cold for 40ish weahter, I noticed when I was driving in that weather but thats like 2 weeks a year, its nice in the summer, keeps the temps down alot more. I woudl be weary of doing a 160* stat up north.

Yup depending whether or not you can take cold weather, I would go with a 180. I put one in my car because in that range it runs real good. If you cannot take cold weather, stay with a 180. I had a 160 and in the winter it sucked.
