Post Suspension???

I was wondering what you guys would recommend suspension wise, im looking to replace my stock v6 components with some aftermarket parts for a V8, im mainly concerned with shocks and springs. I intend on swapping in an LT1 after I get the mileage up on the 3.4. It has 114,000 plus right now, so its getting close. Just wondering what you guys have done or what you would refer me to put on. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks guy's, My car by the way is a 95 firebird 3.4 a4

Cool

Hate to tell you man,but if you're waiting for that 3.4 to blow you'll be waiting forever. That thing will never die as long as you change the oil and such. However, quite a few LT1 parts will work. The shocks and springs are the same, the cold air intakes will work, the exhausts will work, brakes will work, and probably quite a few more things.Good luck.

i can tell you what i have done, but it seems that everybody has different opinions on suspension. i first put a stb. people say they could fell a difference on turns and such. there is no way. i did FEEL the difference going over speed bumps but that was about it. then i put on subframe connectors. man i loved those. those made a lot of diff. then because i was spinning too much at the track i put on an adjustable panhard rod and lower control arms. those seemed to fix the spin problem. i did lower the rear only and i felt it hurt me at the track. i leave it lowered only cause i like the way it looks, but when i hit the track for real times, i will be putting in my stock springs. if anybody asks me, i always recommend sfc, but thats just me.

lol yeah man, I have to say this lil 3.4 is definatly reliable, I've had the car since 75,000 miles and since its only had the oil sending unit go out and just last week a lil hole somehow formed in the piece hooked to the quick disconnect that feeds the two throttle body coolant hoses, but other than that, its been flawless, im pretty impressed, but my need for speed is getting rediculous, so I might be yanking that 3.4 well before its last day's. Either way thank you much for the replies guy's, I'll see what I can get into and make this car's ride much more enjoyable and prepped for the V8 POWER plant.

The story of my life...how the 3.4 will never die! haha no

First off when deciding to upgrade your suspension pick out what you will be doing the most. Are you looking for just a all around upgrade, drag, or autocross? Springs, shocks and sway bars will give you a good upgrade but there are a bunch of combo's you can go with. What are you looking to do?

I plan on going mostly drag, but I still want some good stuff in the twisties because of my friends with their 2001 and 2002 GT Mustangs, those things can handle fairly well I must say, and I don't want them running away from me, the 2001 runs a 13.5 in the quarter after almost all the bolt on's he can put on it, other than maf and TB. and it can handle like no mustang I've ever seen with factory stock suspension , surprised me thats for sure, but yeah mostly drag I'd say,

95phoenix, unless you start spraying alot, all of your friends with the GTs will always be ahead of you. 13.5 is not so easy to accomplish with our V6s. myself, even when i beat GTs at the track- thats only 1/4 mile. put me on the street and they will eat me alive (maybe) right before the end of the 1/4 mile is where their extra 2 cylinders kick in, just like the f bodies. i can hang with the LS1s, but it means something that my trap speed is 94 and theirs is 100+. it means it would have looked ugly in a street race.

lol no no no, I wasn't meaning with my V6 bro, hell I don't even race my V6, im talking about when I get the LT1 and M6 installed. I know for a fact I have no chance, those GT's are pretty sweet rides, my buddy just picked up a 94 Z28 A4 yesterday, and he raced them both, got hosed by the 2001 and he ran the 2002 while we were at our girlfriends lil party last night out in front of the house like 3 times and all 3 times the 2002 was able to take the 94, I just hope it was driver error, cause that was embarassing in front of all the girls, I was a sore F-body fan with all these mustang fan females lol, but its ok. Better day's lie ahead im sure. The 94 was stock save for a borla cat back, hypertech programming and a 75 shot of nos that has never even been cracked open, I know with the 75 shot it would have been ugly for the stangs but, oh well,

a lil off subject but a lil bit on that Z28 and 2002 GT story, well they raced sunday night and the Z took the GT without the bottle, got his driving skills up to par and was able to control his traction loss this time and took the GT by about a car and a half
