Mustang

In my last post someone said a 3.4L camaro can beat just about any Mustang v6 but I am not sure about that but when I got to drive my friends 2001 Mustange V6 automatic it was really slow to like 35mph and then it would take off. Last friday I got to drive a 2002 mustang GT 5-speed and that was fun. Not imprested with the V6 stang I thought it would be more power full, but its not Has any of you guys beat a 1999 or newer stang with a stock automatic 3.4L?

Cool

You 3.4L guys are going to have a hard time beating the newer 3.8L Mustangs. I believe they are the 98+ V6s...they have around 190ish HP.

My GF had a 2001 V6 before trading it in for a 2002 GT and I raced a 3.4 Camaro one day in her car and it wasn't a complete kill but he was pretty far back.

I have not yet been beat on the street by a V6 f-bod or even a V6 stang in my fiance's 99 V6 5 speed Mustang.

Next time out it should run easy 15.1's@91-92 MPH being basically stock other than a K&N and syn oil. Not to bad in my book.

Personally I like how the 3.4L feels compared to the 3.8L

whatever, either way if they were to do a v6 should have kept on teh 4.3L base.

I hve seen a few low 15 second 99+ stangs, but maybe its jsut the autos I saw a stock 01 stang auto run consistent mid 17s! yes mid 17s. And seen quit a few all autos running mid 16s with intake and exhaust.

All 99+, I honestly do not worry one bit at all abotu the autos, the 5-speeds from waht I have seen I should be very worried thing is they are uncommmon jsut like v6 f-bodies with 5-speeds.

don't know abotu an auto 3.4L, hard to say 3.4L are getting old different types of motors.

I can honestly say when I was near stock I think I could take out the average 99+ v6 stang auto, it woudl be close, but I think I could edge otu the wins if I got him out of the hole, now a race past a 1/4 mile I cna assume he woudl beat me.

don't autos have crappy rearend gears? something in the 2.XXs?

A stock 3.4L auto camaro would probly loose to a 99+ V6 mustang in the 1/4 . It would definetly loose in top end because the 3.4L top end sucks. I have all those mods in the sig and my top end still sucks!! !! But my car is a beast 0-60 mph and then it just starts slowing down .

Not sure what gears the v6 automatic stangs have, but me and my friend slaughtered a pre 98 with my friends 3.1 98 cutlass.

I never personally have had a problem vs a v6 sutomatic stang with my 5 speed.

I think the gearss in the automatic v6 stangs must have been designed to go get groceries.

Ya im pretty sure he did. He beats 5.0 mustangs allllll the time. He posts them on our Kill section at our local board, and he had/has so many kills that the admin just made him the moderator for the kill section Very impressive from a Six.
