Supercharger Question

Alright...I have a question for all you engine junkies

Well, my question is, can the supercharger from the Grand Prix GTP work on the Camaro's 3.8L V6 without much work? I mean, obviously it's gonna require work, but, I mean...I could use almost entirely parts from the stock GTP engine, right?

Also, is a ram air setup possible on a V6? I'm pretty sure it is...I'm just wondering what all would go into doing it...(like hood, hoses, etc.)

Well I mean is you really want to call that thing off the GTP a supercharger, than yes

Check out www.speedspecialty.com for the ram air.

Hehehehe...good one

The reason I'm looking at a GTP supercharger is that it would probably be pretty cheap compared to some aftermarket superchargers. I realize it has nowhere near the potential, but I'm merely researching how to give the 3.8L V6 some extra little oompf...you know, enough so that it can atleast run with the big boys (by that I in no way mean Z28's/SS's...we all know a GTP supercharger wouldn't put the 3.8L in that category)

Yea, you'll see some gains. Not sure how well though, depends on what all you do. Run with the big boys? I know for damn sure you'll smoke my 3.4

Hehehehe...well, this is true. A friend of mine has a 3.4L V6, too...he's always complaining how he wishes he had the 3.8L. But, he's fairly modded (intake, headers, dual exhaust, and other stuff...I forget) and he's still beaten Mustang GT's even. There's just so many Mustang's around here (mostly V6's) and I just want to cream them. But, the Camaro's got the disadvantage of weight...so I wanna make up for any weight (and then some ) with a supercharger.

With enough time, money and skills mny things are possible.

However, ask yourself: Do I see or hear of many 3.8L F-bodies driving around with an S/C from a GP?

Nope I don't...which would therefore make me unique

And even though I did come up with the idea on my own...looking around on CarDomain last night I noticed someone else asking if it was a possibility also...so who knows what might happen

i thought this question was answered already? it's not going to fit and it will take much custom work to the fire wall to get it in right (or something like that).

do a search...

no, i dont think that its the fire wall thats in the way, its the windshiled , lol

yeah it can be done... but for the price that its gonna cost to get the GTP blower on your car you could easily get a supercharger kit made for your car

if ya wanna do it for ****s and giggles and wanna waste a lot of money.. go for it, but its not going to be cost effective

This question was answered in Chevy High Performance. The gtp engine has a much lower static compression ratio than your motor. This allows it to run on pump gas without detonation. Also, if you do run racing fuel your cranking compression will probably be over 200 psi with any amount of boost. That's probably enough to blow all the seals out of the stock motor.

Wont work for so many reasons that I don’t even feel like typing right now. Don’t even attempt it. Go buy a V8 f-body, you'll save money.
