Strut Tower Braces
STB
I noticed an immediate improvement in stability when I installed mine. It was well worth the $60 I paid for it on ebay. Make sure, though, that when you order it you tell them you have a V6. The ones from the V8 don't fit.
I wouldn't call it a major difference. When I wrecked mine trying to paint it a different color I didn't even bother replacing it. I know a lot of the LS1 guys feel the same as me and that it is more of a appearance mod, but maybe it's a different story on the V6s.
sounds good. about what i expected. its only the first piece of my little handling setup im gonna be throwing on my car here in the next few months and i figured it would be a good starting point. i figured theres no way to get v8 power out of a v6 without spending some major $$ but theres plenty of ways to make it outhandle cars that cost way more. thanks for the replys.
I don't know if they make them for the 4th gens or not, but any ways I was going to get 3way braces for my cars it makes a triangle from the strut towers to the fire wall.
There alot more than a normal strut tower braces but there far better.
I saw edelbrock making them for third gens for around $270 I think it was.
I have seen some of the improt guys welding (I mean paying people to do it for them) reinforcement steel around there strut towers, on the top and around the curve part that's nearest to the engine.
I don't know if it would help our cars or not because theres are made of thin tin can steel that flexes like a wet noodle when stressed.

I remember seeing some for our cars at www.autoaccessorystore.com for about $55 or so. Check it out, sure beats paying $150. But i am sure the quality is better on the expensive ones. Although, they all do the same thing. I don't know it is late, check out that website though.
I went from a C4 convertible which had a fair amount of cowl shake going over railroad tracks and stuff, to my T/A which was more solid than the C4 convert. Within a day or two I added a Hotchkis STB and the wiggly feel in the front end was greatly reduced even further. There is a difference in rigidity, not a huge amount that everyone that puts one in will rave about how stiff the front is after the installation, but it is enough that the front will stay planted a little better, the structure will stay rattle free for longer, and it's a good place to put stuff while working on the car.... burgers, sodas.... etc.
