Some kind of knocking when engine starts?

I have a 2001 Camaro with a V6 3.8L. The car has almost 70,000 miles. Recently it started making some kind of a noise when I start it up. It sounds like some kind of knocking or loud ticking sound coming from the passenger side of the engine, I've located it to around where you pour the oil in, the sound comes from in there. This noise gets lost after like a few minutes after the car's been running. When you start driving it, it seems like it has low power, you hit the gas but the car struggles. After a few minutes of driving, it is back to normal and the car has its regular power back. Does anyone think that maybe the oil filter's plugged up or that there's something in connection with the oil because the car is up for an oil change..

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
BTW, the car is in Europe, where I am right now and that explains the low mileage since it only gets driven in the summers when I come here.

Hows the oil pressure? sounds like a lifter not getting enough oil or possibly fixing to fail. Have the car scanned for codes, could be sensor related. Could also be a cylinder not firing. Lots of things it could be. Try to get any codes first, as well as checking out oil pressure.

Check your plugs and wires.... make sure all of your wires are "clicked" in and check to make sure your plugs aren't fouled, also check to make sure one of your wires isn't burned up...

uh oh...

sorry dude, you're hosed. A lot of these GM 3800s in Camaros do. ultimate failure less than 100k in. just wasted 3500 bucks on a car from a guy who disguised this knock. started up just like this. removed the engine and found problems everywhere internally. i wanted to say it was just bad care then i talked to some guys and found it to be extremely common. for some reason the buicks and bonnevilles won't do it, just the camaros.

I had something very similar happening, I brought it in and cylinders 2 & 5 were misfiring, replaced them and all is well. I do however have a knocking sound upon cold start in the am that lasts about 6 sec. and stops once the car warms up. Do you find it's happening on a cold start? From what i'm told it's the weather, once summer's here it'll stop knocking.

Valves could be ticking. Have you changed your oil it could be some sluggish oil causing them to tick. Make sure you put some high grade oil in your car like lucas as this could start your car to begin knocking and you do not want that trust me.
