SLP CAI install trouble

So, I recently ordered a CAI from SLP designed specifcally for the 3.4 Camaros and Firebirds. Today, I went to put it on and ran into some trouble. The opening on the rubber elbow that connects the throttle body to the CAI tubing is not large enough (or the opening on the CAI is too large - either way it doesn't fit). What used to fit into the rubber elbow - the stock plastic tubing - will actually fit INSIDE the new CAI tubing. The opening on the CAI is LARGER than the opening on the rubber elbow. What's the deal? Did SLP send me the wrong part? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks a bunch all.

(looks like my sig is about to get out-dated - only if I can get this thing on!)

help u

SLP could have possible sent you the wrong part. Before the started marketing the 3.4 kit, you were told to specifically order the 93lt1 kit ONLY. Now I believe it's listed as a 3.4 kit but it is still the 93 kit essentially. I never bought the kit but I read up on it. I would say possibly a mix up?

So I called SLP, and they told me it was just "a VERY tight fit." I'm still curious if anyone else encountered this problem. As always, thanks for your help.

I had the same problem. Lube it up with some vaseline or something and you'll eventually get it. It is tight as ****! But it can be done. Maybe I used baby oil, but I did get it on.
