ok heres the story. im drivin down the road and its snowing, im going down a hill and i shift my automatic into 2nd so that i didn't have to hit the breaks and slide going down a hill, the shifter itself was struggling to go into second, i then stop confused and start moving the shifter from 2nd to D, then i move it from D to 1st which it really struggled with. Then it wouldn't move outta 1, so i pushed it a little harder and it poped out, but no it doesn't click into its positions, and i cant push it all the way into P, so i slide it by D and drive...the car wont shift out of 1st gear now. my question is do u think my trans is shot or a snaped a shifter link cable? it was shifting fine before i got it stuck in 1st so i dont think the trans is blown, any help is much appreciated!

 

You shifter cable is split. A new one should cure your problem.
