sad

one of my good friends and i were bored last weekend and decided race on the road by my house. we have had a quarter marked off for a while, but we have never raced. he has a 2003 s-10 extreme with a 4.3 vortech and the "sports package" (i think its like lsd and 3.43's and racing stripes or something like that) anyway, my car has an exhaust and his truck has a K&N filter (so both are basicly stock). when we started he pulled a little through first gear, then i cought him and gained almost a length, and at the quarter he was gaining slightly, i won, but barely, we went to over 100, but i took off after the quarter, and left him after that because his truck shuts off at 97. anyway, it was less than a carlength vs. an s-10. thats kind of sad . but he did stop talking about how fast his truck was.

i am used to it, ive driven my v6 for like 2 years and i had another v6 firebird before that, and i know its not anything impressive, but i just think its sad that the SAME manufacturer makes a light truck that is just as fast as their low grade sports car. also, there is a bit of a difference between a 5.9L and a 4.3L, as far as power. If i were beaten by a 5.9L dodge R/T, it wouldnt be as bad, because i know those are faster than my car (360hp i think, which is more than enough to make up for the extra weight), but thats also not an s-10. i was just commenting on the irony of the situation. firebird vs. s-10 = very similar quarter mile times. also, though, i have an open diff with 3.08's and an auto, im sure it would be different if i had a manual with 3.23's and lsd. anyway it was fun.
