Replacing Starter?

My starter is starting to go on my Camaro. I honestly don't know much about this, but I'm wondering is this an easy swap if I put a new one in or is it too difficult to even bother and just take it to my mechanic? I like to learn new things but if it's impossible to get to or just not worth the trouble then i'd rather just take it to the mechanic. Any advice would be appreciated...thanks.

Re: Replacing Starter?

this is the best way I found out on the 3,4l, haha I sat their fighting with that @#$% thing for hours then got pissed grabbed a jack and threw her under the engine and lifted it up a little bit gave me just the right amount of room to get that peace of crap in and out sliding it under the motor mount, good luck gab a few beers too helps out some times err almost all the time

Re: Replacing Starter?

Thanks guys...so it doesn't sound all that bad...possibly worth a try.

I have the manuel but I'm at school currently...I only live about an hour and 15 mins from home...so i'll have to check that out next time. My parents were all paranoid that it was going to die on me...not that I should keep putting it off, but time to do something myself...

Thanks again,

Mark

Re: Replacing Starter?

I heard something about it being in a ****ty place...I'm going to have to look at it this week sometime.

What exactly do you mean by jacking up the motor?

Also where is a good place to find a starter? I was just going to go to a NAPA or soemthing. How much will this probably run?

Thanks.
