Replacing Gaskets in 3.4 (relieving fuel pressure)
Replacing Gaskets in 3.4 (relieving fuel pressure)
So my oil leak is still affecting my car, causing smoke, and my dad says that my valve cover gasket and intake gasket is broken and needs to be replaced. I went and bought the valve cover gasket for starters and brought it home. We tried to get started right away, but there are a lot of things he says he doesn't understand and doesn't know how to do. For example, according to the Chilton manual for my Camaro, when removing the parts neccessary to get to the valve cover gasket, somewhere along the line it says that the fuel pressure must be relieved and we should go to the fuel pressure section of the the book for detailed instructions. In that section, it describes a specific part or tool which must be used to relieve the pressure, called fuel pressure gague JACS-2162091, or something like that. I don't remember the exact name or number of the tool, because I'm at my girlfriend's house right now, I'll get back to you on the specific name if needed. Has anyone ran into this problem before or know what this is and or where I can get it?
As always, any help and advice is very appreciated. I can only hope to help you guys or other new users in the future, as much as some of you have helped me and many others with your advice and know-how.

Re: Replacing Gaskets in 3.4 (relieving fuel pressure)
1 for the 1000th time you do not have to remove the intake to pull the valve covers.
an assortment of 1/4'' drive deep well 10mm sockes, u-joints (2) extentions (every different length you can get ahold of).
I have pulled them with the intake still on, me one time and my mechanic back home did it 2 times.
You can pull the fuel pump relay out and start the car, it will run for a few seconds and stall, then the fuel pressure will be gone.
Don't forgegt to Reinstall it.
