Question about stock diff. gear and upgrade

I'm just trying to understand this stuff.....the stock gears are 2.73 but is that for both auto and manual and or V6/V8? What's the Y87 package have? I'm not an expert but I can put some knowledge into gears because I have 2 nitro powered R/C cars that can kill most every car to about 60 mph (yeah!) This gearing stuff is prolly the same idea. For example it takes the 2.73 gears 2.73 time around for the wheel to spin once. Also that the lower the gear, the slower acceleration is but the faster top speed(saying w/o the govern)and the higher the gear, the faster the acceleration but slow the top speed. So what's prolly gunna be my best bet if I drive my car everyday and still wanna have okay gas mileage but want more acceleration? 3.23's or 3.42's maybe

What year is your car? 3.4 or 3.8?

2.73's only came on auto V8's
3.23's were an option on auto V8's
3.42's were standard all 6 speeds(except in 93)
All 3.4's had 3.23's
Auto 3.8's have either 3.08 or 3.42(Y87)
Manual 3.8's have 3.23's

V6 Punk 03 is correct on all counts.

For your car I would say 3.42s should be great. That's what I would do if I could.
