Question Muffler Size?

Will a stock muffler from a 95-97 v6 muffler fit a 2000 camaro v6? Thanks!

Fit right on. Not sure about that. If i remember correctly they are the same length and both have the same inlet of 2.25".
However, I can tell you that they use different hangers on the left side. The 93-97 mufflers on 6 cyl use a hanger specific to the 6 cyl, where as the 98+ 6 cyl use the same hanger and insulator as the 8 cyl

p/n 10243316 for the Insulator
p/n 10407350 for the Hanger

Cool! Would a normal muffler shop keep items like that in stock? Or would I have to stop by the dealership to pick some up? Thanks for the help!

A muffler shop could most likely sell you different hangers. But i would personally go to the dealership and get them. They run about 11-20 bucks for both depending on whether they charge you the shop fee (their cost) or the List price (to make a profit) They bolt right up with the two existing bolts to bottom of the frame. Its also is a good idea to gets these, in case you later decide you want to bolt on a take off muffler from an 8cyl. then it just about bolts right up with some modification to the reducer on the 8 cyl muffler. Hope that helps you out.

so if I am putting in the z28 muffler from 2000 into a 1995 V6, I need to get new hangers? I dont know what hangers are, I am figuring they are what keeps the exhaut up.

i listed the hanger and Insulator part number above

p/n 10243316 for the Insulator
p/n 10407350 for the Hanger

they are both for the 98+ cars

You will also need a reducer if you plan to bolt it up

If your gonna install it, let me know and i'll give you the run down

I've done two of them so far
