Pulled my motor
Pulled my motor
Well, actually pulled my 3800 and an LT1 both on Sat. Pretty beat after that. It broke a stock valvespring and dropped a valve. Didn't hurt anything but the valve but I'll be intalling a Comp cam and doing some significant porting to my heads to try to boost the power a little. The pistons have a really nice low tension ring package which shows to be pretty effective as I had almost no cylinder wear at 200k miles. Crank and bearings look beautiful. I was pretty surprised.
sounds like sat was a good day for you
, I was stuck in Miami traffic - tropical rain storm most of the day sat
anyways did you get that 3.8 out the front end as I'm about to finally pull mine out and wondering if it'll come out the front with a engine crane / 4 jackstands... or do I need to take a place with a lift and do it like usual??? I've got the heads intake and all that stuff off (originally thought it was just a blown head gasket but not so lucky turned out to be a spun bearing)
Thanks,
Tim

The 3.8 I figured would be easier to take out the top as it is shorter in length. I was wrong. You'll need to pull the upper plenum and the steering shaft going down to the rack. The drivers motor mount is easy but the pass side mount is a pain.
I'll be dropping the k member and installing it from the bottom like an LT1 when it is time to put back together.
It took about 4.5 hours to get it out the top and many headaches. The LT1 came out the bottom in less than 3 hours including cleanup time. I would recommend just taking the v6 out the bottom.

Oh man I lifted up the front of my car and dropped the engine with the tranny and pull it from under. I did it memorial day weekend. Just waiting to go pick up my cam/heads gaskets. Then start swaping out.
good luck guys
