problum with speedo

Some times my speedometer messes up when im doing 30 it says im doing like 50 or 55 it only happens every once in awhile and as i acc. the speedo goes up too. also if i turn the A/C on max and high the speedo corrects its self for a sec or two. I dont know if it as to do with my alt. because a week ago i left my lights on and it ran the battery down and i have been seeing problums with the voltage gauge when i use my lights it goes down a little then back up all while the lights go dim for a sec. is the voltage gauge suppost to be over the half way mark it sits at about 3/4's up. I think that is it does any one think that it may be my alt.

i have a 95 3.4L and a 5.0 mustang and i know nothing about camaros or their v6 engines

It sounds like the alt is trying to get the electrical system to catch up with the needs of the lights. I dont think that would have an effect on the speedo but you never know. I would check voltage on the battery after it rests (like before you leave for work in the morning) and make sure it is above the 12.3 mark. After that I would check to see what it is at while the car is running and while the car is running with all of the power acc. on like lights, heater etc. It should remain well above the 13 volts mark. If not pull the alt and have it tested. It only takes about ten minutes to do it. If there is an alt failure then have the diodes replaced. Having an alt rebuilt is usually alot cheaper than buying a new one.
