get it scanned at your local autozone for free, first.

Re: Problem with 1999 SES light

Hey, I had this same problem with my 98 Camaro, I found out it was either my o2 sensor, or it was a bad seal on the gas cap... Yes, i know, it confused me on how a bad gas cap would make make the SES dummy light activate, it sensors a leak of fuel pressure through the fuel system...Oh and by the way, dont go to Autozone to buy the new cap, eveytime they will give you the wrong type! (something wrong in computer system)

That's weird, from what I understand your saying the SES light only comes on when you press the brakes after using the gas. That's gonna be hard to scan if it only comes up in that situation. Autozone probably isn't going to let you drive around with their scanner. If I had to GUESS I would say something with your brakes since it's comming on when they are applied. ABS can probably be ruled out since it has it's own light for when it's not working properly.

Just because the light goes out doesn't mean that it hasn't stored a code....
