popping sound

popping sound

i was driving around a couple of days ago and i floored the gas and there was a pop sound coming out from under the hood any ideas. 95 3.4L

my car does this also, kind of sounds like a backfire back through the air intake.

Did it sound like directly under the hood? If you were flooring it from a stop and it kinda jerked when it popped, it could easily be the tranny mount(Check the rubber piece between the crossmember and the back of the tranny). If it was under the hood, though, it's probably a problem with the timing(not sure how to check the timing on these, I've mostly worked on older stuff with mechanical/vacuum advance) or a bad fuel mixture( check the inline fuel filter)

it came from under the hood thats for sure and well it has no vacume leaks
but the egr is been busted for about 3 weeks now so i was thinking that it might have something to do with it. yes i will change the fuel filter on friday

If the EGR valve doesn't open and close right then you'll have problems.

i know actually its solenid #3. is there any way to fix it other than buyig a new one cause they run at $219.99. but dosent the egr only give problems in idle, i could be wrong.
