Exclamation Pls Help Me Someone!!!!

I have a 1987 camaro v6..... i bought the car from n older women and she said the car sat for a year after her husband died so i bought it and took it to a local shop and had all of the fluids changed so on and son the cr ran great for about four months. Then one day i went out to my car to start it and it started up like normal idled like normal but as soon as i push the gas it would die!! i took it to the same shop and he said it could be the MAF sensor but i have gotten second opinions and the majority of them say the same thing but i wnt just one more opinion before i spend more money.... i ship out to iraq on april 4th and i wnt my car fixed by then so if there is anyone out there who can help me it would be much appreciated

An 87 V6? Must be slow as ****.

I don't think anyone can tell you that it is or isn't the MAF based on the information you've told us. It's simply not enough to tell. But if you got a second or third opinion, then it probably is the MAF.

If you've gotten two shops to say it is the MAF, odds are it is the MAF.

Looks like you are looking for any opinion other than the MAF.

PS.... about it being a v6 yes it is slow but hey i get my enlistment bonus in a couple of months it will be ten grand so if there are any suggestions to give my cr some more power let me know!!1

Well, since you are getting a 3.4L to swap in place of that 2.hate v6 when you get your bonus, I wouldn't worry about what's wrong right now.

I guess you'd have an easier time swapping a v8 into a 3rd Gen (bye-bye bonus!), but a 3.4L is definitely an upgrade from what I have heard from anyone who's ever owned a ride with a 2.hate in it....whether it be s-truck owners, other Camaro owners, Isuzu Trooper owners, you name it. You basically swap engine blocks, that's it.

As for your bigger issue, buy a Haynes manual, if nothing else, look up the specs/procedures for testing the MAF sensor in there, and get to work on it.

I'm thinking vacuum leak myself, with that car being nearly 20 years old....but diagnoses over the internet with nearly nothing to go by are worth what you pay for them.
