Overheating tried a few steps any ideas?
Hello My car starting heating a while back so I replaced the cooling fan b/c it went out the thermostat and the waterpump. yet I still am overheating. And when I talk about overheating I MEAN all the way to to the top. I have flushed my system as well. I am thinking my Radiator is no good. what do you guys think? Should I just install a manual switch where I can turn the fan on as soon as i get in the car and see if that helps? is there anyway of testing the radiator. any help is appreciated thanks alot..

I would try flushing the coolant, then installing the manual fan switch. I installed one on my car because it likes to overheat. I flip the switch and in 15 seconds the temp needle starts to come back down.
pull the thermostat out and put it in a pot of water on the stove with a cooking thermostat. FIre up the burner and see what temp the thermostat pops at. There is no way these cars should be overheating unless you have internal engine mods galore. The only time I have ever got that hot I found a chunk of newspaper shoved inbetween the condensor and radioator. Instead of manual switches and whatnot I would find the source of the problem.
I'm trying to remember how the V6 engine looks. But this happened to me back in '99. Follow your coolant lines to where they combine into one nipple(looks like a connection on the top of a water heater). Mine had corroded and was cracked. It wasn't leaking a whole lot but it's like sucking liquid through a very cracked straw, and pressure was lost. It's on the front of the engine, right under the intake manifold I believe. If this is the problem, good luck. When I went to unscrew it out the block, it broke off inside. It took me all day to get that thing out. Take a look at it. Hope this helps.
