Oil Light, Please Help!

I've got the 96 V6 Camaro. I BELIEVE it takes 4.75 quarts of oil, and I put all that in. My low oil light was on so I added some more, and I think I may of put too much in, so I changed it. I put 4.5 in, low oil was on AFTER the change, so I added a little bit, let it idle, took it out, and the light went off. Now the light comes on and off on startups as it sees fit. MOST of the time it will only come on whenever it is a cold start up. If I ahve been driving for a while and the engine doesn't cool down too much, the light usually doesn't come on. Should I add more? Thanks all!

what does the dipstick show? i had the low oil light on forever and it turned out to be a bad sensor. luckily it was still under warranty back then for me.

I'm sick of the damned 96 camaro v6 dipstick. My dad always told me that the engineers of the camaro were spectacular and geniuses, but when it came to the dipstick engineers....they are dipsticks.

Considering you're at the proper level at the dipstick, it sound like you just have a bad OPS

I have that same problem with my SS and it has been happening since I change the oil. How much does it cost to fix? I have a extended warranty with a $100 deductible plus I hate dealing with the dealer.
