Not your ordinary V6
I am seriously thinking of putting a turbo 3.8L from a grand national or turbo trans am in my 1994 V6 3.4L. Do you guys think its worth the time??
PS. Cant wait 4 the first Z28 i see that wants to say its JUST A 6 CYLINDER.

Itll prob cost you a lot, but you'll come out wiht a nice, unique car. Do you have to pass emissions? If so that swap will be illegal. Youd probalby be better off dropping an LT1 into the car. Itd cost you less and it has already been done plenty of times. (its a reliable swap). However, your bank is the limit. Do what you can afford.
It realy isn't wotht it. you would have to have the hole engine the ECU a 3.8 bellhousing tranmission and a way too mount it in your car.
The 3.4 and 3.8 are totaly different from each other, the 3.4 is 95% meteric and the 3.8 is standard. and the bolt patterens are different for the bellhousing and the engine mounts are different.
but it can be done.
You would have to have all most a hole GN to do it first of all.

I did some research and it would run me around 4000 for the whole project. The payoff in the end is a 13 second car that will be next to Z28s with 2 less cylinders, and a whole lot of turned heads when they hear the turbo.

Someone did this before, it was a GMHTP cover story. You could contact that guy. Also, some guy on turbobuick.com put GN engine in a 3rd gen Camaro vert.
it has been done before. i have seen it, and the guy who did it worked on my car. let me just tell you this- you better know what the heck you are getting into. if you say 4 grand i believe you,, but it aint easy. good luck to you.
I am currently doing this swap. There are alot of hidden stuff like, headers, motor mounts, wiring....etc.
I am fortunate and I can self fabricate most of the stuff I need for the project, I have already made my motormounts and I am currently starting on the headers. I am doing a twin turbo set-up so mine will be a little different.
My wiring, I am going to end up getting F.A.S.T. system so it should just be plug and play.
I have a stock 87 wiring harness for sale and injector harness for sale if you are interested.
You can e-mail me if you have any questions

yeha I was thinking the same thing with some of these swaps wouldn't be easy to get a stand alone wireing harness liek a "painless" kit? I think it can be done for a relative amount of money but like said,
-the headers and y-pipe will most likely be custom,
-motor mounts will be custom
-I assume a swap to a TH700R4 would be one of the better things to do.
-maybe have to upgrade the fuel pump or get something different to work with the stand alone kit.
It can be done I say a turbo buick 3.8L in a 80s Nissan 300Z.
