Post new cat with updated exhaust???

gonna throw a SS exhaust on my 95 3.4....and am wondering if i can use a magnaflow 3" cat to replace the oem....it's about $40 cheaper than the catco one, so i figured i might go with the magnaflow instead...

will i have any problems getting the different sized pipes together? i'll be having a strictly muffler shop put it on and do the welding....but will they be ok even with the different size in pipes? or should i just go with the 2.5" cat....

and has anybody heard anything about the magnaflow high flow cats? thanks....

How is the Magnaflow $40 cheaper than Catco? Summit sells Catco for like $50.
