Post How do you "ungovern" a 3.4

Friend wants to mod his 3.4. Yes, I know, why, you cry, well, insurance really. So as a starter he has to get rid of the governor, right? Is it a rev limiter or what? How do you get rid of it?
What increase could he then expect from a cat-back and cold air induction kit?

It reads the speed of the car, not the a revlimiter. My reve limiter does not kick in till well into the redline, so you don't really need to get rid of the rev limiter, since the 3.4L loses power around 4700 RPMs and if you don't really shift right after that mark you will end up being slower.

AS for the govenor, I think Jet chip stage 2 will do it, but in theory, I think you could hook up toggle swithc to the speed sensor, and maybe if before you hit the speeds, you hit the switch, shuts down your spedo and most liekly will throw a SES let but maybe it will allow you to blow past 118?

No one has tried it so no telling what it will do but just a theory of mine.

Just curious? How often does he really need to go blowing by faster then 118?
