need some help here!

ok. i have a 1993 with a v6. I was having some problems with the oil pressure, so the first thing i did was changed the oil. when removing the oil filter i knocked something loose from where it was. it looked like a normal wire housing or something of that nature, so i didnt think anything of it. i finished changing the oil. made sure it was full. fired it up and it sounded great (one of my problems was also a noise issue prior to changing the oil) i shut the hood and took off around the block. when i was driving it i had 0 oil pressure and wouldnt shift from first gear. i would like some insight on what that piece was and what i can do. thanks.

LT1 Based Engine Tech is only for the V8 93-97 cars. I'll move this post to the "V6 Tech" forum for you.

You most likely broke the oil pressure sensor, I did the same thing on my 2000 v6 while loosening the filter with a wrench, on my 2000 it sticks out of the block right above the oil filter. The plastic body is most likely what broke so you should be able to get it out easily, I can't remember if you have to drain the oil or not to swap it.

It will cost you about $40 to replace and is very simple to change, I reccomend you get the part from napa as the autozone parts are low quality.

I dont know why your car wouldn't shift from 1rst though, my 2000 did not have that problem when I broke the sensor. maybe that is normal for your car, i dont know.
