Mild cam in 3.4?

CRN-254112 is the part number from Summit.According to the specs of it,It seems to be a mild cam for the 2.8,3.1 and 3.4 motors. It says stock computer compatible.Since this is not a radical cam or anything is there anything else need to go along with this cam.Can I just pop this in and go or is there more involved? Is it also smog legal with a full exhaust and CAI?

Specs of it:
198 Intake lift
204 Exhaust lift

Intake and Exhaust duration:258 and 264
401/423
RPM Range:1,000-4,000 RPM

not sure on the smog stuff, but you should be able to put it in and go. The lift isnt that large, so i see no problem.

Re: Mild cam in 3.4?

That is all most a stock cam. Every thing form the duration to the lift even the 1,000-4,000 rpm range.
You will see (or feel) no difference over stock.
You like many others will be like " man that was a waste of time and money", I have seen it more then a few times.
What would be cheaper, easier, quicker and give more result is some 1.6 rockers and new springs with the old cam.
I have a good part numbers and stuff for 1.6 rockers and springs on my car domain site (in the sig).

What's the stats on the stock cam? I've looked on the internet and can't find it.

But yeah, 3.4L's have a pretty decent stock cam.

Re: Mild cam in 3.4?

I had that cam in my old car, and there really wasn't that much of a difference in performance. It idled like stock, drove like stock and gas mileage was about the same. You could feel small gains at higher RPM, but nothing significant. The only reason I did the cam swap was because I had the head-gaskets blow out, and I figured I would give it a shot while the heads were off the car. Not worth the money; put that money into a savings account for a Z28
