MagnaFlow catback exaust for 02 V6???

I am posting for a friend. He just caught the all powerful "MOD BUG" We just got done installing his intake lid a couple of days ago and now he wants an exaust. I have heard good things about the magnaflow but was wondering what you guys think sounds the best. I also noticed that thunder racing has a BORLA setup for his car, does this sound any good?? I guess you can never really go wrong with them but i am doing the research for him and would like the imput of you guys. Any info appreciated. thanks.

Either way...Magnaflow =

I have a Borla...I wouldn't pay full price for one though.

Importkiller is right. Even though I haven't heard magnaflow catback, most ofthe reviews for the 3.8 fbody are negative.

American Thunder at onestopexhaust.com is around $300 or so, Borla is $600++, probably 700. B&B is $600, there are others, as well as custom set ups (i-pipes from summit racing, then a muffler).

Here is my friends car that has a magnaflow. Scroll to bottom and right click save as which ever. My opinion is that I do not like it. I previoulsy had Borla on mine, but sold it because it was way too loud for me.

Hmmmmm.............The magnaflow sounds pretty high pitched, are they all like that or does any one catback stand out as far as loudness. He wants it to be as loud as possible so i guess we should be talking about the Flowmaster or Borla then huh? Also i saw the "Loudmouth" exaust for sale for the 3.8's at tbyrne. It comes with a y pipe and looks like a pretty good system, has anybody actually put one on a 3.8 and listened to it??? Thanks again.

Borla is great sounding. Like I said I use to have it, but it was too loud for me. It did sound nice and deep.

That sounds good. I guess i should have said in the first post that money was not really an issue. I will go ahead and tell him to get the borla. Thanks for all your help guys.

Magnaflow Haters I dont think its so bad,its an alternative.I mean they are all alterative sounds other than stock sound. And not one IMO sounds right, you know like powerful.that same purr some louder some more raspy but in the end totally distinguishable as a v6.
Thats why I went with Magnaflow not sound but performance/flow.Borla shares the same quality of performance. And sounds kick *** on my Z nothin like the v6...go figure

We're not putting down Magnaflow at all, hell I love the way they look. We're just saying that many V6 owners had nothing nice to say about them on the 3.8. I'm sure that they sound good on the stangs and Z28's.

The 3.8 are pickier when it comes to sound . The V8 is like a ****, it'll take anything to sound good .

And they are free flowing, where flowmaster and B&B have chambers. All catbacks have their good and bad points.

I realize this is on an LT1, but you can hear both before (with stock exhaust) and after for a true comparison...

The only thing to change was the cat-back..

All he cares about is performance. My question is which one gives the most HP?? From what i have learned about v6 camaros, the borla and magnaflow flow the best. Is that a correct assumption or does another system flow better.

oops.... well, in the first post you did say
but was wondering what you guys think sounds the best.
unless you meant sound as in "best deal for best flow" rather than exhaust note.

Well, I would love some dyno numbers on the other systems but the only one that I know that's been tested is the B&B triflow, at 13 hp?? and 14 torque?? (I'll search for the page, if i'm wrong someone correct me)

It does seem the magnaflow flows better, you can't see "through" the B&B and it is quieter. B&B is heavy, however.

As far as hp gains those are hard to find I havent seen much.Other than manufacturer claims...which we all know should be takin w/a grain of salt.Since alot of variables are involved w/ the outcome of them mostly other mods at play as you probably already know. But have seen some flow charts for these systems.
And the Magnaflow and Borla are around 900cfm,the SLP LM comes in around 1200cfm. The flowmaster was 450cfm

So as far as flow/hp gains seems the LM is the best, but with this one too there has been negative feed back about sound.
But for something less your best bet is either Borla or Magnaflow. Magnaflow IS straight thru and a good performer in my experience.

By the way w/ that new lid and whatever exhaust he chooses...those 2 really shine w/ the Fast toys ram air, this is the key to unleashing the power from those mods IMO and experience. there's a Fast toys RA bidding on Ebay now in" LS1 Camaro"search last bid was $50

I have magnaflow catback on my 3.8 and compared to many v6's around here, i think that the magnaflow sounds pretty good...except in the high rpms...but thats for all v6's so whats it matter. Its what you like not what others like
