Smile Low Oil Pressure?

I am looking at buying a 95 Firebird 3.4L as a winter car,the car has 150,000 miles(240,000km).

I had a check gauges light and a very low oil pressure on the gauge(dipping in the red zone),it seamed more pronounced on braking(3 times) and once on a hill.

The gauge barely got over 1/4 on the scale, even under moderate excelleration.

There is no engine knock or noise and the car runs and drives well.

Will this thing need a new engine soon?

Should I bother with it?or move on and find a different beater?

BTW the oil level was correct and the car ran cool(but with a great heater) LOL

Re: Low Oil Pressure?

Could it be the oil pressure sending unit?

Anyone with high miles have this problem?

Re: Low Oil Pressure?

The oil level was fine,I told the owner to get it checked out by her mechanic and get back to me.

Check out our local clubs website:http://www.sogm.ca/forum/index.php

Yes maybe we can hook up a Tim Hortons for a coffee.

Re: Low Oil Pressure?

probably the sending unit. Mine was doing the same thing and when I replaced the sending unit, the pressure never drops below 20

I decided to buy it,I got a great deal $3200.00 cdn.

Where is the sending unit located on the 3.4L? My Haynes manual does not show it.
