Long tube header questions.

lmperformance sells jet-hot long tube pacesetters for my 2001 V6 Camaro for $389.95 with $40 shipping. Does anyone know where I can get a lower price?

I also ordered a high flow catco catalytic converter. So since I am getting long tube headers which will change the location of my cats, should I wait till I get the headers before I install the high flow cat? Or can I install the high flow cat now and install the headers later?

My high flow cat is ariving this week "april 15" and I'm probably gonna order the headers in a couple weeks. So what do you guys think I should do?

Re: Long tube header questions.

The only way youre getting long tube headers is if you fab them up yourself. All that is available for these cars are shorty headers, from any manufacturer, which offer minimal gains over the tubular manifolds you already have. The sound of the exhaust will be deeper and they look cool, but the affect on HP & torque will not be the same as it would with LTs.

Save the cash and buy a welder or have a shop make some for you.

Re: Long tube header questions.

Well lmperformance is selling LT long-tube pacesetters for camaros 95-02 here is the link http://www.lmperformance.com/5653/13.html

It does that say "Fabrication may be required to connect to factory exhaust"
Is that what you meant about fabricating it myself? Well you said that the only thing available for these cars are shorty headers right? Then why did I see a company selling mid-tube headers on ebay and the headers on lmperformance are long-tube headers.

If I get those LT headers on lmpeformance, would it be basically cut down to being just like shorty headers? Can someone help me out?

Re: Long tube header questions.

Pacesetter does not make a long tube header for our cars. They make headers, but not long tubes. No where on the page you linked does it say "Long tube". See this thread (at least the 2nd to last post): http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...=006616#000005

While there, do a search on long tube in the intake/exhaust section.

The Clear Image Auto headers are the closest thing to mid-length headers available that I know of, if some dude on ebay is selling something other than Pacesetter, RKSport or CIA that fits our cars, cool, more power to him, but he's not one of the "Big 3" for Fbody V6s, and as such I have no idea of the quality of the product.

Re: Long tube header questions.

If you go on the lmperformance site and go under camaro/firebird v6 98-02 you will find "LT (LONG TUBE) JET HOT COATED PACESETTER HEADERS". I even spoke to them and asked them if it was long tube or shortys and they said it was long tube. It is under LT pacesetters and doesnt "LT headers" mean LONG TUBE HEADERS?

Re: Long tube header questions.

Good luck with them. Funny how the part number is the same as the ST headers below it except for the C which is the coating. Someone should call Pacesetter, because if they are making LTs now, they are a new product since March, and they need to do a better job marketing them because there's at least a thousand people over at CamaroV6.com that would like to buy them but never heard that they existed; which I find hard to believe, but who knows...

Re: Long tube header questions.

I asked them again if they were long tube headers and this is what they wrote back.

they have been making them for a while we have been selling them for a while. RKSports also makes long tubes for the v6 which we sell. THEY ARE long tube. We have a special thing going with jet-hot.

So thats what they responded back, so lmperformance gautentees its long-tube. Well now lots of V6 owners are going to be happy with long tube headers available for their cars. Thanks to me heehee j/k

Sorry, not a long tube.

They list both pacesetter and rk sport under LT headers.

RK sport makes 1 version... I run them... they are not long tube.

Pacesetter Headers - Jet-Hot COATED 95-02 Camaro/Firebird 3.8L
Pacesetter Headers - Jet-Hot COATED 95-02 Camaro/Firebird 3.8L
Pacesetter Headers - COATED 95-99 3.8L 1-1/2" Diam Tubing and 2-1/2" Collector Flanged Collector Diam. Hook-ups for smog & engine management sensors, Comes with header extension to connect to stock system. Fabrication may be required to connect to factoey exhaust.

No where under the specific's does it mention long tube..... it is just refered to as LT under the main page.

Sorry

Unless they provide pictures of rhe rk sport vs pacesetter and it is obvious of a LT design.... I'm not beleiving it. Would be nice though

Re: Long tube header questions.

They do not make a LT header for our cars as James said.....And they probably wont either......Our cars will never make enough air vilocity to warrant a LT for top end...

You would probaly lose power going to a set if they ever made them

Re: Long tube header questions.

So are you saying that lmperformance.con is lying? Because they said it is long tube headers which they gaurenteed it is.

So your saying that the only headers they make are shorty headers right? Which are 50 states legal correct? And does not change the location of that cat right?

Well the headers at lmperformance are not 50 states legal and changes the location of that cats. So that can't be shorty headers right?

Thanks a lot for your help though guys. And if these are really long tube headers that would be great for all 3.8 camaro owners.

Re: Long tube header questions.

Well I'm gonna be safe and not go with those headers at lmperformance.

I'm recently learning about my car (2001 Camaro V6) I am looking to get some pacesetter headers. What I have now is a magna muffler (which comes out duals) along with other mods (but doesn't matter for this question). On jcwhitney.com they are selling pacesetter headers for 95-02 3.8 Camaro for $249.95. They are also selling one for 67-04 3.8L cars (including camaros) ceramic-coated also for the same price. I have no idea what is the difference between those 2. Below are the links to both items

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...26986910361630

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...20526110095107

Can someone help me out and let me know which one I should get for my 2001 Camaro V6? If they are not a complete set let me know what I would need. Also, it does not say that it comes with a Y-Pipe. Is that why they are so cheap? Will I need a Y-Pipe for I buy those headers?

Can someone guide me to the right direction. Since most of you all know so much about camaros I would hope you can help me out. Thanks guys.
