Keyless entry problem

About 15 seconds after locking my car with the keyless entry remote, the panic alarm goes off. It doesn't go off if I lock the car manually. . .any ideas?

Thanks,
Ed

What year and model is your car? Is the remote entry stock or after market?

The car is a 1998, and the key fob is factory. . .if I lock it with the remote, it is like I hit the panic button about 15 seconds later.

I would try reprograming the remote(s). Heres a link on how to do it. The guy that explains how to do it says he did it on his 96 SS, it also worked on my 99 so I think it will work on your 98.

If reprogramming it doesn't fix it you should take it to the dealer.

Does this happen when using either remote? If its just one remote doing this you could buy another one on eBay for around $20.

I have a 99 V6 now and my keyless entry is doing the same thing. Did you ever figure out how to fix it or did you take it to the dealer??
