It's only a V6

I hate when people say oh it's only a V6. I have a 94 3.4 and I've been fairly impressed with what I can keep up with and beat. I think alot of people under estimate our V6's. When people say oh it's a 6 like it's something they don't have to worry about is total BS. When I here this it makes we want to sell my moms car or somthing and do something crazy like a twin turbo set up and waste everything. Just cuz it's a 6 does not mean it's slow. Just somthing i had to get off my mind.

I totally agree with you there. I get people all the time who don't know much about cars will come up and ask," Is that a V8?" But then when you say no its a v6 the sort of look at you like "Then why buy it?"

But it is very very comforting when people listen the the exhaust and swear that it sounds just like a V8 and at a idle it sort of does. I don't have enough mods yet to hang with a V8 but remember you can have a car that looks like it has a 350, and sounds like it too for thousands less!

It is only a V6, it's nothing special. Yes, I'll agree with you it has some power but nothing compared to it's big brother. The 6 cylinder motor isn't big enough for a car that big. Let's face it, it's quick but it's not...It's fast but it isn't.
You can go 118 stock in a V6 or do 140 plus in a Z.
You can do an 8-9 sec 0-60MPH or a 6 sec.

It has power, you just have to find it. I can spin my tires all the way through 4 gears before getting traction on wet roads. Zs can almost do that on dry roads.
It's a little faster than older 4 bangers and 6 cylinders but not anything newer.

All in all, it is only a 6

oh well

i have to agree with the saying. i hate to admit it but its the truth, and it is seeming here that the truth hurts. V6 camaros are essentially girl cars. look pretty with a little pick up. that is why i started modding the poopoo out of my car- i didnt want to be just another mexican thinking he was fast in a camaro. a V6 at that. sorry but if you really think the V6 is something all that, i suggest you race a subtely moddd honda civic si, subaru wrx, or even a maxima. you'll unfortunately loose that "its fast" attitude real quick. i am not knocking V6s- its what i own, but i am just saying how it is. and for those V6s out thee saying they can whomp on mustang gts.....good for you.

Just my 2 cents...If you are going 140 any place other than the drag strip, you have no business with a car to begin with

I disagree. Both street racing and racing at the strip are both un-safe and can result in disaster.
I'll agree that the strip is a little safer...with rules and regulations.

But if I want to get away from someone shooting at me I'd rather have a car that can do 140+

Yes it only a V6...........and thats no lie.

We make our cars to look, sound and handle like Z28's.......but deep down........its still a 17second car.

Don't get me wrong, the car gets looks all day long, but when its time to "lay down the law".............its the TRUCK that does the rubber paving.......and smoke laying

Unless you go insanely NUTZ like Tiago or 12secondV6........the V6's are never gonna be fast. Just ask them how much cash they have put into their cars???? Its sick......and they are only in the 12's and 13's...........they could have gotten a Z28, and go that fast for the same or less money.....but they had a dream...and ran with it, and I commend them by giving them strait jackets......to do what they have done with a 160hp engine is awesome.......but NUTZ none the less.

The V6's could be great motors. They have most of the parts to be great engines ( the V6 60's any way) The heads can flow ok and will take over .5'' of lift they have a good intake manifold and they come with forged crank and forged rods with week pistons and a crappy little cam.
They can be great little motors, If they ran around 200Hp and peaked @ 6500 rpms in a 3600lb car could turn a 15sec 1/4 mile at almost 90mph.

yes

I think its more of a matter of having such a dominant big brother than just being viewed down upon. Lets face it, the 4th Gen Z28's were dominate in its price range, and thus feared on the streets, so when people spot a camaro they expect that LT-1 or LS-1. Our v-6's are good to a certain extent, I hear the same crap you guys do, especially with a friend who has an 02 Z. But all i know is i can handle alot in my school's parking lot. VW's, Honda, Mustangs are all fair game, and that's all I care about right now. Ill eventually get the V-8 (5th gen i hope , please car gods let there be a 5th), and i think most v-6ers hope to get the 8 someday. So yes, the V-6's are good, just everyone fears the 8 so damn much.

You guys seem a little down...you need some juice.

I've had my car for two years now and whenever I hear "Oh, its just a V6" I just shrug it off. It used to get to me but now, I could give a rats @$$.

Most of the time I hear it from people with a V8 and it doesn't bother me at all. I'm not in a popularity contest and I don't need to bash other people's cars.

One guy with a 95 Mustang GT at the gas station was trying to be a smart @$$, he had his GF in his car and I had mine in my car. So he says "Hey...thats the 3.8 V6 right? Why didn't you get a V8 instead?"

My response...

"For what...the extra 15 horsepower that you have in a V8?"

OK, so I bashed one person's car. What can I say...Mustangs bring out the best in me.

NICE COMEBACK!!!!!!!!!

.....hey he started it and you ended it.

But back to the topic, its not so bad with a 3.8, but those of with a 3.4, 3.1 or even the lowly 2.8.........its a tough fight. Heck, even our own 3.8's have a 40 hp lead over a 3.4, and thats quite a bit.

Hey import killer, its not the extra 15 hp in a V8. Try talking the extra 110-135. 200 in the 3.8 as opposed to 310 in the Z and 335 in the SS with the SLP options. 135 hp is alot of power.
To all those of you who get the oh its only a 6, it hurts, but thats part of life. I say that to all the V6 owners. But you know what there is a chain. I have a Z28. Although an 8, i get the "you shoulda gotten an SS" The SS has alot of respect that even the Z doesnt get. Its a never ending chain. The V6 owners will always mock rice, the Z owners mock V6 owners, SS owners will mock Z owners, and im sure people who have gone out and spent 39000 on a 2002 anniversary addition with all options and convertible get the you shoulda just bought a vette. So stop whining. Car mockery is a part of life.

I dont see why people cant respect everybody for what they have done to their car. I mean we are all car people. It seems kinda stupid to me. I know most people with camaros and firebird dont like ''ricers''. I dont care what you drive, as long as your not an a** and rag on people bc your faster than them.

Reread his post. He's not talking about a Z. The guy had a 95 Mustang GT w/ a 215 hp 4.6.
