Ignition Coils......Stock,MSD, or Accel?

I`m gonna replace my coils should i just buy some stock ones or go with some aftermarket ones, and if it did go with after market ones what would the benefit be..also moneys not an issue for me on this subject.

From a performance standpoint, you are going to get very little if any performance gains from aftermarket coils. If money is not an issue though, then some MSD red top coils will add some visual cues to your engine bay.

Also ALTHOUGH you might not gain any performance gain, (until that is you have Intake and Full Exhaust done, you'll get alittle then and ESPECIALLY if you Boost or Spray) Aftermarket Ignition Coils, Plugs, and Wires will SIGNIFICANTLY increase your Gas milage regardless of your miles...

Stock coils are more than powerful enough unless you are planning some crazy engine buildup.

Is one of your coils actually bad, or are you thinking of replacing them just as a tune-up?

I'd stick with stock.

Actually no. Not with modern ignition systems.
If they are in good shape and you aren't running forced induction etc, you'll see no increase in performance or milage by running aftermarket plugs, coils, or wires. When you see an increase, all it will be is finding lost performance from the normal degradation from use or from replacement of a faulty part.

In otherwords, a regular tune up will keep your car running at top performance, but will not give you any "extra" power.

Re: Ignition Coils......Stock,MSD, or Accel?

Accel, they have redesigned the old Magnavox style coil pack and done upgrades. Instead of using a cheap flux to insulate them, after time breaking down and shorting out. I have personally been through about 9 coil packs in the last two and a half years. Accel has designed them with a high temp slicone and it doesnt break down like the cheaper rosin flux.Much more reliable. On standard aftermarket coil packs, I have measured 40,000+ volts with my ignition tester, not bad in my opinion other than I had to start using 9mm wires because I was buring up plug wires. -Tim
