idle revs?

Hey how u guys doing my sis bout a 94 firebird with that 3.4L V6 and at idle its in the 1800 RPM range on tach. Is that normal? It seems like its idling a bit to fast to me, so any one know that the needle on the tach is supposed to be at?

Also if it is idleing too fast how would I go about having it not idle at so high rpms? if its not too much of a big deal I figure Ill do it myself if not its off to the shop.

It should idle at 1k...has it always done this, or maybe just started to because of cold weather?

Yeah, my car idles high in the cold weather when I first start it. Normal operating temp, it idles around 900 RPM.

I don't know how to change idle speeds, but how about checking the little things, like pedals? Maybe the gas pedal is just slightly depressed?
