dont hammer it out of the way. Do it right. Besides, it would take a lot more work trying to hammer it out then to just remove it. The way it is shaped it will not be easy to hammer.

I think it is held on in the back by 2 bolts. A good flex ratcheting wrench can get it off.
It is not easy, but dont risk screwing something up by hammering it. Remember, that is bolted to an aluminum head. You hit enough on it and you could crack the head.

There aren't any bolts other than the four centerbolts, just get a good grip on it and pull it to one side until it breaks free. Worst case, take a long thin Phillips , stick in one of the middle bolt holes, and GENTLY pull to the side, just be careful not to bend it.

I know what you mean. It might help to take the transmission crossmember out and let the motor lean back. That might help you get something on it.

When I took mine off, I threw it in my scrap pile.

I just replaced the valve cover gasket on the driver's side yesterday. 2 hours. It wasnt too bad, just had to move a bunch of stuff.

Yeah, I must have missed that it was a V6 somehow. I was wondering where the "two bolts on the back" would have come from...

It has really been too long since I have seen it. Let me dig through some pics that I have of a 3.8 that was pulled out sitting in my dad's garage. Maybe they will show it.

Here is a pic

Im pretty sure it has a 13mm head on it. I think there are 2 bolts on the backside of the head.

In case the pic doesnt show up, here is a link to it
