how to pull codes on 94 3.4, mouse ate thru wires!

Well A Few Years Back I Tryed To Pull Codes Via Shorting Terminals On Obd-1 Connector. Found Out It Didnt Work. I Also Had This Happen On A 95 Corsica And Also The Regular Code Readers Dont Work.

I Read Something I Think Once That 94-95 3.4's Use The Obd-1 Connector But The Obd-ii Baud Rate.

Does Anyone Know 4 Sure Whats Different And How I Can Pull Codes....

A Mouse Built A Nest In The Plenum Area And Ate Two Wires, I Fixed That But Something Else It Must Have Got To. It Runs Much Nicer Now But Ses Light Comes On After Like 30 Seconds.

Help

I don't know why, but I can't get my scanner to throw me any codes either. And as far as I know there was never any animals or anything that messed with my wiring. I have the right scanner too, so I don't know what the deal is. 3.4L's can be a PITA.

hey Marc if you don't mind me asking what kind of scaner do you have? Do you have a pic of it. And about scaning the codes I would just take it down to an gm dealership they should all have a scaner capable of accessing the computer just keep going from one to one until you find one that will just scan the computer and tell you what code its throwing.

Dealerships charge for that service.

Go to Autozone they will scan it for free.

In 1995, GM started putting OBD II diagnostic connectors with OBD I PCMs. You need to jump a pin to get the OBD I reader to pull the code. Check out this site, it should help.

yes i realize that on the v8 models. i had a 95 with obd ii connector yet it was obd-1

but the v6's are the opposite sorta. they use the obd-i connector but the obd-ii baud rate to communicate to the scan tool. a regular obd-i scan tool does not work on the 3.4 camaros.

i cannot believe no one can give me better info and no one has ever figured out how to pull there own codes on a 3.4 camaro.

I haven't been at my own house for a bit, but I'll be there tomorrow, so I can't tell you exactly what it is until then. All I remember is that it is a "GM/Saturn scanner".

How much do they charge? Because the 2 Autozones near me didn't have the right scanner. I could go around to other Autozones I guess..

In Canada the charge is one hour of labour $65.00-$85.00cdn

To pull the codes in my TA I bought a AKM Cable and Laptop and got Freescan software.

I don't know where to look for V6 software,my friend has a Snap-On Scanner at his shop and will do my codes free

you can't just the connector on anything 94 or up. It will work on "some" 93's but thats it. a Generic (cheap) OBDI scanner will "sometimes" work on a 94 fbody but usualy not. A quality and corect scanner is needed to pull codes on a 94-95.
