You might beable to pick up a used 3.4L with a lot less miles then your 2.8 for about the cost of a nitrous kit.
If you do get all that other stuff:
headers
camshaft
MSD ignition (coil, module, wires etc)
cooler termostat
cooler fan switch
better air filter
They can all go on a 3.4 engine if you swap it in there.
