You all are getting hung up on hp and tq #'s
Do you know they really mean nothing?
My car with a huge amount of mods only put down 170 rwhp, but it runs 14.4!
There are other factors to look at:
converter
gears
weight reduction
and so on

for all you guys beating gts with just an intake, ram air, and catback... stay where you are at. cause you are in heaven. i used to beat GTs left and right, but i spent a hell of a lot more money than intake and exhaust. even with the power pack, royce only got 200 rwhp. impressive yes, but still not beating GTs.

My friends mods are: Ram Air, Whisper Lid, Flowmaster Cat-Back Exhaust w/ 80 Series Muffler, and he used some sort of CPU programmer. Like a Jet CPU Programmer or something like that. But that's it and he beats auto GT's. They get him off the line, then once he gets to 30 they stop gaining and he starts catching up. At about 50 he's caught up and from there he keeps inching ahead until the GT decides to shut it down. In a Z28 the race would be over before the first rev

Given the modifications that I had clearly stated...Yes it would.
I've seen stock V6's go as fast as 15.3 at the track. A 15.5 vs a 14.9 would be a close race. So, even stock it would 'keep up' with a stock 8 cylinder Mustang.

In any case, not to say you are the culprit. It doesn't matter what you can say or show some people they simply don't want to hear anything other than what they want to believe. So, hey, I know what I see at the track, and I not only do this as a hobby but I build cars for a living. So believe what you want to, but I have seen otherwise on many-a-occassion.

I get the feeling that half the people commenting have never actually been to a chassis dyno, let-alone visit one frequently, and also, have never been to the track, or spend several hours a week there?

12SecondV6, I don't think that you would be correct in saying those figures don't matter. Especially on this board. The other factors that you mention are already given such as weight - we're talking about V6 F-body's so 3200 to 3400 pounds, that should be understood.
Converter - important some...but what if you have a manual??? A Converter won't let you leave the line near as hard as a Trans-Brake.
Gears - already mentioned = 3.73's.
Weight reduction - falls into weight category. But even so, the most common I ever see is still under 300 pounds. Not really that significant. Now, 500 pounds or more is pretty substantial. Gutting the interior and ridding the creature comforts for a car that is driven on the street, only to gain 2/10ths of a second ET at the track, really isn't worth it. Especially Gen 4 Camaro's. They are fairly sparce as is.

yes, with a small light bulb with similar resistance to the sensor. i was told i should just use small resistors instead of a light bulb.
