Higher mileage engine ??'s

Hello! I've got a 96 RS with ~110,000 miles on it. It runs great now (knock on wood) but how do I keep it that way? I change the oil religiously @ 3000 although I've heard you can run it longer. Also I don't beat on this car and all the miles are easy highway ones. The only problems I've had is an alt. had died on me. Does anyone else have their gauges jump around on them @idle? Its mostly just my oil pressure. I've owned other Chey's in the past that did this. Does that stuff the is supposed to remove carbon buildup work? Thanks for the help in preserving my baby!!!

the oil pressure gauge definatly jumps around a little in my car. I wouldnt worry about it. Its not like GM's gauges are 100% accurate anyway. They put that in there mostly for show. Even in the 5.7, if GM really wanted to make sure that you knew the real pressure at all times, they would use a mechanical gauge and not a sending unit. If the car runs good leave it alone.
