Help with bent suspension
Hi,
I just bought an 85 2.8 camaro fixer upper for my GF, the only real problem with it is the front right fender is crunched and the front right wheel seems to be way out of alignment, when the left wheel is pointed straight the right wheel is pointed a couple of inches to the right. I am assuming this suspension damage happened when the fender got crunched but I suppose it could actually be the left wheel that is way out of alignment but I doubt it. I haven't had it on jackstands yet, that comes tomorrow but I did lay under it some to try and see if the tierods are bent and they don't appear to be, then basically I looked for bent metal and displaced paint or dirt to get an idea of what gave, the only place that had paint peeling off was the spindle where it connects to the tierod, peeling the way brittle paint does when you bend the metal its on,so maybe its bent there. I always kinda thought that the metal a spindle is made out of, cast iron I think, would break b4 it would bend. So what I guess I'm asking here is could it in fact be some bending on the spindle itself? Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
Also if I end up replacing this spindle with a junkyard piece what years and models of camaro would I look at to find a matching piece?

not sure what you should do , but i wouldnt drive it , that tire will be shot bofore you know it , for every 1 degree out of alignment a car's tire i think it is like dragging it 500 FT per mile you drive straight, quick way to destroy a tire
Well yeh, its not driveable, my GF drove it from where we bought it a few miles to get close to the freeway while I followed her, and then I called a friend of mine that has a towtruck to take it the rest of the way. When she drove it there was a constant squeal from the tires
Today I'll prolly get it up on jackstands.
