Re: Heads?

how are you going to "shave" them? What part are you going to "shave" and what unit of measure are you using for "30"?

Re: Heads?

shaving them .030 to increase compression alittle, basicly resurfacing the heads. My motor is getting close to 100k and i am going to pull the top end apart to inspect it then put it back together. All I have is about $250 to spend on it. So I figured that i could have a little fun for now and shave them to increase compression for that little extra kick. Not much but enough to have more fun with.

Re: Heads?

shaving them .030 isn't gong to net you anything as far as performance. Only reason to do it is to flatten the mating surface to ensure good gasket seal. If you want performance, look elsewhere.

Re: Heads?

i dont see how a little extra air moving through your intake is gonna make you have extra compression
It might make you run a little lean until its tuned

Re: Heads?

Well the idea is that since I shave them .030 it will decrease the combustion chamber from I believe 63 or 64 to 62. Wich should increase the compression from 9.0.1 to at least 9.5.1. Theory wise. Also since the heads will be getting smaller/closer to the top of the block, the pushrod length will stay the same as so the camshaft will too. this should if done right give me at least an extra .030 in valve lift. As theory goes. It is all complicated to me, but that is what the guys say at the race shop where I have all my motor Sh*t done.
