hard starting 3.8
Please help. I have a 1998 v6 camaro with a 3.8 liter motor and 100k mi. I have trouble starting when it's cold. I have to hold it to the floor and crank for approx. 15 sec to get it to start, then it idles up and down between 1000 and 2000 rpm for about 2 min then levels out at a rough idle.Once warm, it idles better but not right. If I mash the pedal at any time mentioned above it will bust the tires loose and seem ok. I have replaced the plugs and wires as well as the fuel filter (oem iridium plugs) but did not help the starting. I do not notice any arking between coil packs and did not see any poor firing plugs when replaced. when I turn my ignition on, the fuel pump sounds good, runs no more than 2 sec and shuts off. Am I looking at a bad intake gasket or fuel pressure regulator or what? I had this car scanned and no codes were read. I am chasing my tail with this P.O.S. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas

Re: hard starting 3.8
Most likely the fuel regulator, in fact the info screams it. Or, as the post above says, a leaky injector.
Check your fuel pressure first, removing the fuel rail is somewhat of a chore, but once it's out you can test the injectors and test/replace the FPR at the same time.
