got a SC...need advice
I got a Vector-Powerdyne unit as a "late" Christmas present and I need some advice on upgrading my internals. I posted this on the Forced Induction thread, but only one person replied. Hopefully you guys can help me. I'm looking for some web sites to get information on forged "dish" pistions and connecting rods so I can lower my compression. I also have a question about the valve train. Am I going to need stiffer valve springs and all the other goodies? I'll only be running around 8-9 lbs of boost. The manual states that 9 lbs of boost is the max you can run with stock internals, but I want to do it right. I don't really want to join the "rebuild club" if you know what I mean?! I also have a question about getting the block bored. Has anyone ever done that to a 3.8, and if so, is it even worth it? I've also heard about getting the cylinders sleeved if the wall thickness isn't enough to bore. Is it possible to do this to the 3.8? There's something about having a "bullet proof" cylinder wall that apeals to me....well, not really bullet proof, but you know what I mean. Any information on this subject would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm pretty much at a stand still until I can find some info. I hate coming home seeing the box in my garage and not being able to put it on....can you feel my pain??

you dont want to be a member of the rebuild club? well if you are going to upgrade the internals, that will be a rebuild...
your stock valve springs should be fine as long as you dont throw in a new cam
the sleveing process is if you have an engine block that has already been rebuilt and bored out and if you bore out anymore it will be boring the actual block, your block already has sleves in it from the factory. so resleving it will be of no advantage
i say strap that thing on if you break something rebuild it later

I agree! Put it on and have fun!
I'd venture to say, your compression is already low enough. My '97 is running stock 9 to 1, and I'm getting ready to strap on a 6 lbs. blower. Eventually down the line I'll do the internals, but 'til then... I'm runnin' what I got.
(what's the worst that can happen? I'll have to walk back to get my truck and trailer - after I've picked the guts of my 3.8 up off the pavement and haul her home - to do a rebuild.... but damn, it was fun while it lasted!)

Okay...if my stock compression is good for 9 lbs of boost then where can I find some forged pistons? Another question, if stiffer springs are recommended, what ratio would be the best for my application?
