Is this a good deal?

Advance Auto in my area said that they will sell me a reman 2.8L for about 1200.00 with a 3 year warranty/unlimited mileage. It is a longblock. Does this sound like a good deal?

Nope. You can find a 3.8 with low miles for $400-$500. 2.8 should be way cheaper.

Sure, but you will most likely not get a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty with those?

A 3.8L for $500??? Who would be stupid enough to sell their engine for that cheap?

But $1200 for a 2.8, I would rather look for a 3.8 too, I don't think you should worry about a warrenty, just use good oil and clean it up good before you put it in, and maintain it. If they had a 3.8 with a warrenty, I would consider it.

This is a remaining, so that means it's new??

i happen to work at advance and priced someone a 2.8 last week. if i recall it was only around 899/ exchange. now my price could be cheaper because of maybe it was a 2.8 of a different year OR that they priced it to you with the core charge.

Every junk yard in the country. I can get a block for $100 right now which I might just do since I have high miles on mine.

I can get 3 engines for the price of that one with a warranty. If you're worrying about warranty I'm assuming you don't have any mods.

The price of the motor was 999.99 and i dont want any mods cause i am going to keep my car completely original, so putting in something other than a 2.8 is out. I will keep on looking for a better price. Thanks

Okay...

Now... I must ask: Where do you get a reman 3.8L longblock w/similar warranty for 400 bucks?

There is a 30 day warranty. I could care less about a longer warranty cause once I put a cam in it there goes the warranty. Some of us like to mod cars on here.

I hate to say this but I think spending $1200 on a 2.8L is not a good idea...

I had one...

I woudl not spend $1200 on a new 3.4L in my current car.

Honestly I would go junkyard shopping you can get 2.8Ls as cheap as $100, if the first one was bad you can go back 12 times before you have to replace it.

Why do you need to replace it anyways... As for an upgrade a 3.4L swap is very beneficial and requires very little changes on the car.
