Never heard a 40 series on a v6, most people get 80. No muffler like loudmouth is raunchy and race car-like (higher pitched and uber loud) up top. I guess it would all depend on your preference. I like have no muffler

Re: Flowmaster 40 Vs. No Muffler

I just had a Y-pipe in place of where my muffler was at with tips coming out the back on my '95. I had it that way for a couple of years... sounded mean as hell for a V6 from idle up to 2500RPMs or so. After that, it wasn't fart can awful but it wasn't the sweetest sounding either.

I ended up replacing the Y-pipe with the muffler from off my '93 Trans AM and really liked it. Still had a nice tone to it
