Flickering SES

Guys I still have my 98 3.8 A4 the wifes drivin the tires off it. First off I do know I need to pull the codes IF any. My neighbor with the tool is not home right now or yesterday. The car runs fine there is no misfire happening nothing going on I can feel. It runs great as usual, feels normal.

Started yesterday(raining) after fill-up. the low oil light comes on,BUT oil is full ! With that light a very dim SES barely on.
Today started with SES full on, SES off, to SES flickering then off then flickering dim...I think you get the picture. No low oil light today
Its not flashing there is no rythm to it,and the car is definitely not misfiring.
It is flickering, effect like a loose wire on a light bulb being vibrated. Seems like the road vibs are doin it..I dont think so.

I'm hung up on the fact that the light was dim. The freak low oil light. The flickering low intensity SES.And nothing noticably wrong.

I read a post in the search I did where a guy had the SAME deal happening exactly(97 LT1 car Rich97) and had NO code and he never posted back what was the prob..Thats why I wonder if I will get one. Its pretty weird if thats the normal operation of the SES. I allways thought they just come on,or flash.

Any ideas?

T.

Re: Flickering SES

OK where are all the v6 gurus at that used to be around here?

Today no SES no dummy lights at all,car still fine.Although this morning it held 1st gear(auto) till about 4K rpm twice. I came home to see what was up and get the code read. But it is not doing it for me everything seems to be fine right now.
I dont really have a clue what the heck is going on.If anything! We did try to pull the codes w/ auto Xray.No trouble codes as expected

But as stated in first post I did disconnect the Batt. yesterday. But right after I reconnected it the light was present so... And if there was a real trouble code attached to the SES yesterday it would have told us right even though there is no SES today when read? Stupid question I know but humor me please.

The car has 160 thermo, transgo kit,Jet 2 module, lid, exhaust and slp fanswithch theres more but thats the engine drivetrain mod items.

Any help or ideas guys?

Re: Flickering SES

I'm pretty sure your getting a multiple missfire code (P0300)

Check your plug and wires first, then go froim there.

I noticed this section isn't very helpful

Re: Flickering SES

try www.firebirdv6.com for some decent v6 tech.

in the meantime, do you have a local Autozone store? They will scan your car for free to see if you have any trouble codes.
