Exhaust Question

I am looking to upgrade my stock exhaust and had a question. Is there a big difference from upgrading to a 3 inch pipe from the catalytic converter or would the performance be about the same with the stock piping??

Future mods: CIA,Ram Air,Possible Super charger,etc.

No you want the 3" pipes! Its called a cat-back exhaust system. A muffler isnt goin to give you a gain, its all in bigger pipes. If your state doesnt have emissions, I would cut off that cat too.

Don't all states have emissions?? LOL I was just curious b/c my friend has the 3 inches on his v6, but we were debating on whether or not to do it on mine. He was telling me how he wasn't sure if it would make much of a difference. All the places I have gone to tell me they would have to order the cat back systems and I'm just too damn impatient. Had my car since Mondy and already want to be rid of the factory exhaust....and those damn alloys.

Yes, defiantely go with 3".

Some might tell you to go with 2 1/2" ( or 2 3/4) which would normally be alright, BUT remind them you might be getting a supercharger. A lot of people even w/out a power adder go with the 3".

Yeah that's what somebody else told me to do if I planned on upgrading to a supercharger. You guys on this forum are way more helpful than the guys on my old Dodge truck forum. HEHE. Anybody have any other suggestions as to what I could do to my car? The only physical appearance I want for sure is chrome rims. Any ideas would be helpful.

you could always get a different hood and spoiler, clear turn signals, blackouts in the front and/or rear, etc. What color is your car? What year?

2002, maroon. My friend has the clear corner signals on his and they have started leaking in water. Any suggestion as to what I can put on there for it to not happen to mine? By the way, sweet car you got there. How much HP is it pushing?

Yea I think clear turn signals would look really good on your car. As far as the water leaking goes, I would think you could just duct tape around the opening. My dad works at a chemical plant and he had one of the guys out there make a bigger gasket for it. I dont have any problem with them leaknig now.
The horsepower on my car....no enough at all. I would guess 180-190 at the rear wheels but Im not sure. I havent even run it at the track since I put the exhaust on it. I would hope for a 15.5 time now.
I think a Cowl hood on your car would look sweet!
Then maybe an SS spoiler.
Some chrome ten-spoke rims.
Tint the windows
Just my .02

I got the windows tinted already. My mom traded in my Dodge Ram so she could get a Cavalier Sport, and let me take over payments on the Camaro. I had 70,000 on the truck and still had 3 years of payments left. The camaro is the same, but I only have 17,000 miles on it after a year and a half. I think I got a good deal on it. Anyways the car might as well been new, I think I'm the only one to take the car over 90mph. Another question for ya. My friend has CIA,ram air, power programmer,3.08 gears and he can beat the new automatic GT's that have just exhaust added. The sticks kill him. Well the other night me and my stock ride took on a stick GT off the roll and he only got m by a car length and a half. That didn't seem too bad considering mine was stock and his wasn't. I have 3.42's on mine. DO you think I might actually be able to beat one of the stick ones after I fix the ride up? Sorry for the long post.

I would like to know what a stock GT runs, Auto and Manual. If you get CAI, Ram air, cat-back exhaust, hypertech programmer, tc, I would say that you could definately take a gt stick. You may not even need the torque converter. But I say that, not knowing what a GT runs in the 1/4

What's tc? The new Gt's suck. A friend of mine had one it had cat back exhaust, power pulleys, cia,NOS,etc. When he got it dynoed it was pushing 220 to the rear and 320 with the 100 shot of NOS. It was a stick too. He blew a lot of money into that car and it's sad that it needed NOS to hit over 300. Damn car costs about $8000 more than mine and it can barely beat a v6 Camaro..how sad.

a tc is short for torque converter. Basically, it lets you get off the line quicker.
